Monsignor Henryk Micek, MTh
Fidei Donum priest from Archdiocese of Gniezno in Poland. Ordained by Primate of Poland, Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski in 1980. After seven years of pastoral work in Poland he volunteered to become a missionary in Papua New Guinea where he worked in the Diocese of Chimbu for 10 years, and then as a lecturer at the Divine Word University in Madang. The next 8 years Monsignor Henryk was teaching at the University of DWU and helping pastoral work in the Archdiocese of Madang.
In 2004 due to severe malaria he had to leave tropical country and decided to help with his priestly service the Diocese of Broken Bay in Australia, after a year of service for the Diocese of Broken Bay he moved to Archdiocese of Sydney. His first year of service he spent at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Sydney. In October 2006 Cardinal George Pell sent him to St. Patrick’s Church at Kogarah as the administrator of the Parish.
Anniversary of his ordination 8th of June, his birthday 5th of July.
